Rhino!
What? A formal discussion g group which is house based. The discussion will begin with a 20 minute presentation on a topic and discussion will start thereafter. The post presentation discussion will be led by the presenter who might wish to have a couple of discussion points.
Who? The New House sixth form. The housemaster and his wife, any tutors or other invited staff.
When? There will be at least one meeting a term. The meeting will run from 8.45pm-9.30pm
Where? The common room or the 6th form common room (when it exists!)
With what? A fine glass of wine and some tasty food...
Why? To stretch ourselves, to learn from one another and also to add value to out CV's/UCAS applications. Occasionally it is good to enjoy a more intellectually challenging environment than the 6th form club or a walk to Alldays!
Some Other Thoughts..
- Yes...we can get a speaker from another house
- Yes...we can get an outside speaker. (a relative, friend or member of staff)
- There will be a President of the society. He is appointed by the tutors and housemaster and his term of office is 1 term. During that term he is responsible for organizing and running at least one Rhino! event. This organization will envolve:
- Finding a speaker
- Organizing a date and publishing it to all the society
- Formally inviting any relevant staff
- Liaising with the housemaster over numbers for food and wine
- Making sure the venue is suitable prepared for the meeting
