New House Charity
L6 Charity Walk in North Devon June 24-25
Despite Glastonbury like weather conditions, the team of 11 New House, Mr Middlehurst and Mr Dawe completed the walk. So far the total money raised stands at £360 but with more money pledged we hope to hit the £500 mark at least. It would be great to donate £250 each to the The Shining Lights Orphanage in India and the British Scoliosis Association.
After a fortifying full English breakfast courtesy of Jonathan and Fiona Waterer at their farm near South Moulton, the team trekked from Hartland to Horn’s Cross on day one in balmy conditions. Then the heavens opened, the wind blew our campsite flooded. Only the diehards (Alex MacCaw, Joe Harris, Elvis Chung and Tommy Chen) survived. The rest came scurrying in doors. Monday dawned, the rain lashed down and the wind speed reached gale force. Oh dear! We cut out the dangerous cliff top section of the walk but managed to complete the final section from Instow to Fremmington Quay in one piece.
Many thanks to the team, to Ian and Jenny Harvey for their assistance with food and transport and to Chief Sage and photographer Mr Middlehurst.
